Online dating is one of the most popular and easiest ways to find a date.  I was a part of the online dating scene for quite some time and had my share of loser dates.  I was beginning to wonder if I was doing something wrong. I began searching the online dating profiles for women to check out my competition. As I was reading through them, I noticed a lot of them looked like they were full of a bunch of lies. Many of the pictures that the women were posting looked like they were taken quite some time ago, even as far back as high school.

 

As I continued to read through the online dating profiles for women or my competition, I noticed that a lot of the profiles read the exact same way.  I never knew that there were so many women out there that enjoyed long walks on the beach or stargazing.  I personally enjoy doing both, but did not find it necessary to put that on my dating profile.  I feel that about fifty percent of dating profiles are a bunch of lies.  After looking at the other women’s profiles, I decided to keep mine exactly the way I had written it. I was honest and true to myself. The men that were reading it would get a picture of who I really was, if they didn’t like it, they could move on to someone else.  No love lost there.

Meeting quality single people sounds easy enough but proves to be a difficult task. While dating is supposed to be a fun activity, many singles find it daunting.  They have to put themselves out there and be prepared to work.  Dating is almost like having another job.  This job sometimes doesn’t pay at all.  If you are divorced with kids and dating, sometimes, this makes it even harder to find a good match.  If you are in your twenties, dating seems to be easier because there are more people your age that are also looking for the same thing.  As you get older the dating pool gets smaller. You may be able to find love though.

 

I want to talk about being divorced with kids and dating for a minute.  When there are children involved, not only are you looking for a quality person that you want to date, but you are looking for someone that your kids will approve of.  Sometimes, if you look for someone else that also has children, you are more than likely going to find a date.  You will know that they probably feel the same way that you do about dating. This could be your first step in finding love.

My husband and I are huge movie lovers.  We are often at the theater on opening night.  We often buy our movie tickets online to ensure that we will have a spot in the theater.  In order to do this I research upcoming movies. My latest search was for movies that are coming out in January 2012. There are 18 expected releases in January and I have seen nothing worth holding my breath over.

 

There are two that my husband and I may go see at a matinee.  One is called “The Grey” which stars Liam Neeson and Dermot Mulroney.  This is about some guys that survive a plane crash in Alaska, but now have to fight the elements and apparently the have a pack of wild wolves after them. The other movie is “One For the Money” starring Katherine Heigl.  She plays a bail bonds-person.  I loved her when she played Izzie on Grey’s Anatomy, so I tend to watch her movies, but I am not holding my breath that this will be an Oscar winner. These are just a couple of the movies coming out in January 2012, nothing too great or too exciting.  Hopefully, February will offer up some better choices.

In June of 2010, my heat pump and air conditioner broke.  It was already very hot in my area and I knew that I had to purchase a new unit in order to keep my husband and me comfortable that summer.  I really didn’t want to have to shell out the money to do so, but I had to.  After speaking with my air conditioner guy, he informed me that if I purchased certain heat pumps, I would receive an energy saving tax credit of $2500.00.  I thought that this would be great.  I thought that when it was time to prepare my taxes for that year, that I would automatically receive a check for $2500.00.  I thought that paying the $5000.00 was worth the investment because I would receive half of it back next year.

 

After I received all of my paperwork in order to file my taxes at the end of the year, I was excited to get started.  After I was done entering everything in my tax program, I realized that my refund was a lot smaller than I expected.  I had purchased the new heat pump that was to give me an energy saving appliance tax credit.  Where was my $2500.00? I have asked many people how the tax credits work and no one seems to know.  I question myself if it was really worth the investment.

One of the fun parts of getting a pet is picking out a name. I have heard some interesting names over the past 10 years of working at a veterinarian’s office.  Some are very common names while others are unique and different. I love hearing the cute names out there for tiny dogs.  Two of the most popular ones are Killer and Spike.  There are some that have even gotten their inspiration from the Bible.  The most popular biblical names that I have heard are Cain and Abel. A trend that I have seen become popular are naming animals after the owners favorite characters from books and films. Some of those names are Bella and Edward from the Twilight Series; Ron, George and Fred from Harry Potter and Scout, Finch and Radley from To Kill a Mockingbird.

To me the cute names for tiny dogs are the best.  I have heard Itsy, Bitsy, Speck, Micro and Midge.  I think that is so adorable.  I personally love the people that get their inspiration from the bible. Apollo, Caesar and Cyrus are powerful names for little boy dogs.  Some little girl dog names that I love are Chloe, Delilah, and Glory.  Whatever name you choose, it will be great.

I am a girly girl and I love my makeup.  I often walk by the Blingtone display in the store, but bypass it because it seems like it is aimed at teenagers and women in their twenties. Since I am in my mid-thirties, I have been afraid to try it because the colors are bright and bold.  This is something I used to wear a few years ago, but think it may be a little young for me.  I don’t think that wearing this would take 10 years off of my face, but one day, the bright purple eye shadow got the best of me.  I ended up purchasing it.

I had plans that night to go grab some drinks with the girls.  As I was getting ready, I took out my beautiful purple Blingtone eye shadow and began applying it.  I put one coat on my eyes and it looked great.  It wasn’t as bright and bold as shown on the poster in the store.  I decided to try one more coat.  I loved it.  It was still not so bold and bright that anyone looking at me would think I was trying to take 10 years off of my face.  It was the perfect shade of purple and totally age appropriate.  I received compliments from my friends and now they want to go out and buy some.
